Why Become a Referee?

Refereeing offers a unique way to engage with the sport, build leadership skills, and give back to the soccer community. Whether you are a player looking to stay involved or a soccer enthusiast with a passion for fair play, refereeing provides valuable experiences both on and off the field.

Program Highlights

  1. Training and Certification: U.S. Soccer offers comprehensive training programs that ensure our referees are equipped with the latest rules, techniques, and best practices. New and experienced referees can achieve various levels of certification.

  2. Mentorship and Support: We believe in continuous improvement. Our mentorship program pairs less experienced referees with seasoned professionals to provide guidance, feedback, and practical advice for growth.

  3. On-Field Opportunities: SOCAL Soccer League provides a wide range of match assignments, from youth competitions to higher-level matches. This diversity helps referees gain experience across all levels of play.

  4. Referee Community: Join a network of referees who share your passion for the game.
